Dr. Laiyin Ma, MD
Founder of Envision Eye Group and board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, corneal, and refractive surgery.
Dr. Ma is the founder and lead ophthalmologist of Envision Eye Group in Flushing, NY. She is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with a special focus on the cornea and ocular surface, and she is skilled in cataract surgery with multifocal and toric intraocular lenses, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), full and partial corneal transplantation (DSAEK, DMEK), anterior segment surgery, and laser refractive surgery (PRK).
She is fluent in English and Mandarin, with working proficiency in Spanish — allowing her to serve Flushing's diverse patient community directly, without the barrier of a translator.

Dr. Ma earned her medical degree through Boston University's combined seven-year BA/MD program — one of only a handful of accelerated medical programs in the country. She was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

During her internship, she was recognized as Intern of the Year.

Dr. Ma completed her ophthalmology residency and served as Chief Resident.

Academic Role
Teaching the Next Generation of Ophthalmologists
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Ma serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and attending physician at Elmhurst Hospital, where she supervises and trains ophthalmology residents in surgical technique.
She has presented research at national meetings, including those of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and has published in peer-reviewed journals.
